My Experience with false bible versions
The first Bible I owned was an AKJV New Testament given to me when I was a month old. No problems there, except for the fact that I couldn't read at the time. My second Bible was a NKJV Precious Moments edition that I got for Resurrection Sunday one year. I read it some, but not too much. My third Bible was another NKJV, which I got from my grandparents for my twelfth birthday. When I started going to the nondenominational (ie Catholic) school, I started using the Living Bible. The school used the LB, and I didn't see anything wrong with it. I just thought all Bibles were the same. I got little from the NKJVs, and almost nothing from the LB. I didn't really care at the time.
At one time I read the warning at the end of Revelation, and I wondered who would want to add to or take away from the word of God? I figured that someone would have to done so, or else God not have put such a warning in His word.
Some time in 1999 I saw a video (Straight form the Joint Chiefs, host Al Cuppet) which talked about, in part, the false new Bible versions. It shocked me out of using the LB, and I went back to the NKJV, but I still didn't really care. I hardly ever read my Bible back then, anyway. I asked for and got a Scofield KJV (1998 ed.) for Christmas 1999. I didn't really want a Scofield, I just wanted a KJV, but my mom talked me into getting a Scolfield. She didn't know any better, either. I read the Scolfield some, but the footnotes and suggested word changes distracted me from the Word. I still didn't grow spiritually. When I recommitted my life to Christ on April 8, 2001, I decided that I needed a new Bible. I wanted one that I could take to school, but my Scolfield was to big. I had my mom get me a $5 model from Wal-Mart for Resurrection Sunday. This bible has small print and no footnotes, and I planned on only using it for at school, but the Holy Ghost had other plans. As I read through my Scolfield, I noticed that most of the footnotes agreed with the false Bible versions. I stopped using the Scolfield entirely, and am now using the five-dollar walmart Bible.
Of all the Bible versions I have ever read, the King James has been the most in-depth and thorough, retaining all the deeper meanings that God intended.
