Notes on Creation

Mankind Is Not An Animal
The Scriptures Make this Very Clear

Is mankind just an advanced animal, as evolution claims?   Are we just an accident, the chance product of time and matter that came to life and advanced itself over other living things?   Is there really no purpose in life?

Or were we created in the image of a God who loves us enough to die for us and has a plan for our lives?   The Bible says...

Man was Given DOMINION Over the Animals.

Genesis 1
26   And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
27   So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
28   And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

If man is really an animal, why would God make this distinction?   Man was created last of all creation.   God had just looked upon the beasts of the earth and pronounced them good.   THEN, AFTER that, God says "Let us make man in our image, and let them have DOMINION..."   Man is created in the image of God; animals are not.   Man is created to have dominion over all the creatures which God has already created.   Man was given authority over the whole of creation.   God had finished creating the animals before He created man to have dominion over them.   How could man have been given dominion over all the animals if he himself is an animal?   It is impossible.   Therefore man cannot be and is not an animal.

Genesis 2
18   And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.
19   And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof.
20   And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him.
 21   And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;
22   And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.

Who Named Whom?

In Gen 2:18-19, God notices that Adam needs a help meet.   He makes an extra pair of every animal, brings them to Adam and has him name them.   But a help meet was not found for him among the animals.   Eve was not an animal, to be found amonst the animals.   Adam was not an animal, to be "married" to another animal.   Adam did not find his wife among the animals because, she, like him, was not an animal.   Also, man did not need to be named, because God had already given him his name, "man" (Gen 1:26-27).   Our name was determined by God before He created us; the names of the animals were left to mankind, because we were given dominion over them.   God named man, and man named the animals.   Why did God name man, if we are animals?   Why did Adam name the animals, if he was one himself?   Why is there this distinction?    Because mankind is not an animal!!

Different Kinds of Flesh

All flesh is not the same flesh: but there is one kind of flesh of men, another flesh of beasts, another of fishes, and another of birds (1 Cor 15:39).

God doesn't just separate between man and animals, He also separates between different types of animals.   He created birds and fish (sea creatures) on day 5 (Gen 1:20-22), and land dwelling animals on day 6.   This distinction between man and animal, and animal and animal is repeated in 1 Corinthians 15:39.

More Distinctions: Man vs Animal

Different foods before the Flood:
Man - seed bearing herbs, fruit trees   (Gen 1:29,30)
Animals - green herbs (grass)
If we are animals, why is Adam on a different diet than the animals with him?

Food after the Flood:
Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you; even as the green herb have I given you all things.   Gen 9:3   But "every moving thing" does not include mankind: Whoso sheddeth man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man.  (Gen 9:6)   So Noah was told that he could kill and eat animals, but not man!   Man is not an animal!

God talked with Adam and Eve.   He did not talk with the animals.  He visited them every day.   He didn't do this with the animals.

Genesis 3
8   And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day...
9   And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?

God gave a law to man.   He gave no law to the animals.   If mankind is an animal, why didn't He give the other animals any laws to obey?

Genesis 2
16   And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:
17   But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

Therefore, mankind is not an animal and never has been.   We were created in the image of an Almighty God that has a reason for our lives.   You are NOT an accident; you are NOT an animal.   There is a purpose for YOUR life.
