What does it mean to be
“Alive in Christ”?

Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Romans 6:11

I call this website "Alive in Christ", but what does that mean?   It means being freed from sin, but more than than.   Being “alive in Christ” means NOT living in despair, worry, depression, bitterness, anger and grief, but living in joy and hope and peace.   Jesus Christ said He came to give us LIFE, and life more abundantly.   “I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more ABUNDANTLY”     (John 10:10).   When you are “alive in Christ”, you have that abundant life that Jesus came to offer.

A person is made alive in Christ when they are first saved, but he is not fully alive with the abundant life until he is determined to follow Christ 100% and himself 0%.

And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with ALL your heart.
Jer 29:13
You will find God when you search for Him with all your heart.   You cannot search half-heartedly; you cannot search after Him some of the time, and after wealth and material gain the rest of the time.   You are not really even seeking God until you seek after Him with all your heart.

If you want to get that “Abundant Life” that Jesus Christ promised you, if you haven't done so, you need to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savour.   If you have already done this, good for you.   This is the beginning of the abundant life, but it is just the beginning.   For when you accept Christ as your Saviour, you accept His death on the cross as the atonement for your sins.   When you accept Him as Lord, you acknowledge His authority in your life, and are willing to do anything and everything He asks of you.   Knowing AND doing Christ's commandments gives you freedom, not bondage.   “If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;   And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. ” (John 8:31,32).   His commandments are not grevious (1John 5:3), His yoke is easy, and His burden is light (Matthew 11:28-30).   Doing His will is not hard when you are filled with the Holy Ghost.   He will help you stay away from sin and He will help you do what the Lord wants.   When you do God's will for your life, you will feel rewarded, peaceful and joyful despite all life's hardships.   If you are not alive in Christ, you will still face hardships, but without the peace that passes all understanding that only He can give.
